Frequently Asked Questions

How do I obtain a burn permit? Burn permits are not issued by the Fire District, but are issued through the Jefferson County Department of Health. Permits are only issued between November and April. Burning without a permit can result in a fine. They can be contacted at (205)930-1276.

When are the board meetings? Board meetings are held monthly on the second Monday of the month at Fire Station 2 at 7:00pm. The next meeting is May 13th. Anyone can attend.

When are Fire Dues due? Fire dues are billed annually and are due on September 1st of each year.

When are Fire Dues deliquent? Fire dues are deliquent are after October 15th. After which a $50 penalty is applied. After May 31st past dues are turned over to Jefferson County to be placed on property taxes or for tax exempt properties they will be turned over to a collection agency which results in a 33% collection expense to the customer.

How can I pay my fire dues? Please see our fire dues page

Can payments be made for fire dues?Payments can be made prior to May 31st but will be subject to a $50 penalty if paid after Oct 15th. Payments can be arranged with the approval from the District Board to go past May 31st.

Can I make a payment after normal business hours? Yes, at station two (6798 Warrior River Road) there is a drop box located on the side that faces Cozy Trail. Please be aware the firefighters do not have access to your account and will not be able to answer questions in regard to your account or write receipts.
